Hey Kids – Check out what’s going on at the church!
Last Day of Sunday School:  (May 19)
Sunday school concluded on Sunday, May 19.  A huge thank you to all our teachers and assistants for teaching our youth this year.  We hope you sign up to teach VBS.  We hope you have a great summer and come back next fall refreshed and ready to lead our youth again!
VBS Needs Crew Leaders:  (sign up now)
Vacation Bible School will be June 9-13.  We are asking kids in sixth grade and higher to help out with this year’s VBS as assistant crew leaders, station helpers and with other tasks.  We also need plenty of adults to help out with this year’s adventure.  Please contact Bobbi Hestdalen or Vicar Brian for more information.
Donations Needed for VBS:  (now – June 2)
VBS has a list of supplies they are needing.  If you would like to make a donation, please stop by the table in the narthex.  Most donations are due back by Sunday, June 2 with the exception of perishable items that are due back on June 8.  Check the back of the “safari hat” to verify the “return to church” date.  Thank you for helping our VBS be a success!
Special VBS Worship Service:  (June 13)
There will be a special worship service Thursday, June 13 from 8 – 8:25 pm.  Our VBS kids will be singing the songs they have learned at this year’s vacation Bible school.  Come hear some fun music and support the kids.
VBS:  ROAR!  Life is wild, God is good:  (June 9-13 ~ Register Now)
All kids from age 4 to sixth grade are invited to participate in this year’s Vacation Bible School, “ROAR!  Life is wild, God is good.”  This year’s VBS will be held Sunday, June 9, to Thursday, June 13 from 6-8 pm.  Dinner will also be offered from 5:15-5:45 pm every night for a cost of $3 per person.  At ROAR! kids discover that God is good – even when life get wild!  Kids participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, experience one-of-a-kind wild Bible adventures and test out sciency-fun gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long.  Each day concludes with the safari celebration that gets everyone involved in living what they’ve learned.  Family members and friends are encouraged to join in daily for this special time at 7:40 pm Kids at ROAR! VBS will join A missions effort to provide nutrition packets and health checkups for moms and babies in need in Zambia, Africa.  Pre-register your child for VBS now.  Forms are available in the narthex or click here.
LCMS Summer Camps:
There are brochures in the narthex for those who would like to attend church camp.  This year’s theme at Shepherd’s Hill at the Crossroads is “A Great Cloud”.  Some of the camps offered are horse camps, art camp, guitar camp and even an adult camp.  Their website is www.shretreat.org.

This year’s theme at Lutheran Island Camp and Christ Serve Ranch is “Forgiven”.  There are great programs for all ages.  Their website is www.islandcamp.org.
Sunday School:
BSLC offers a Sunday School program for children ages 3 and up during the school year (Sept – May).  Sunday School meets from 9:30-10:30 am on Sunday mornings (conveniently scheduled between our two Worship Services).  If you have a child age 3 and up, sign them up for Sunday School (the form is located under the “Resources / Forms” tab of this website) or you can pick one up in the Narthex at the church.  If you have any questions, please contact the church office.

Sunday School Teachers / Helpers Needed:
If you would like to help our Sunday School program in any way
(ie: teaching, substitute teaching, being that extra set of hands in a classroom, helping with attendance, etc), please contact the church office or stop in the office on Sunday morning to sign up.  We can always use a spare pair of hands!

VBS Kids helped battle hunger in Haiti:  (Summer 2018)
This year the offerings received during VBS week went to help battle hunger in Haiti.  The island of Haiti has been battling years of drought and hurricanes.  As a result, parents struggle to grow enough food for their families.  Operation Kid-to-Kid is partnering with World Vision to provide Haitian families with drought-tolerant seeds – A $10 gift provides seeds that can grow into food that will feed a child for an entire year.  Our VBS kids are happy to announce that $464 was collected and donated to provide seeds for Haiti.
Do you have Pictures from Church Events?
If you have pictures from church events and are willing to share them, please let the office know.  You just never know where we might use them…  Thanks!

Sunday School Memory Work:  (2017-2018)
The following note was sent home with all Sunday School children on Sept 17:
Dear Parents of Sunday School Children:  We would like to encourage talking about God’s word at home.  To help facilitate this, each grade has been given memory work.  Please take some time during the week to work with your child(ren) on their memory work.  We would like each child to be able to have all of it completed by the end of the year.
